The objective of this research is to determine the influence of gender factor on the food choices of adult consumers and their attitudes towards healthy nutrition. The research was conducted on a total of 400 consumers, 200 of whom were female and 200 of whom were male all working for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The research data was collected by use of survey method by interviewing. According to the research results, the average age of female consumers is 36.74 ± 7.35 and the average age for male consumers is 38.88 ± 10.23. It was observed that 58.5% of the consumers is college graduates, 36.5% has never smoked, and 54.8% has never used alcoholic drinks. It was found out that 72.7% of the adults eats three meals a day and the meal skipped the most is breakfast. When the BMIs of the consumers were evaluated, it was found out that the rate of females with a normal body weight is 63.0% and the rate of males is 36.5%. Seventy-seven point two percent of the consumers has stated that they consume meat, vegetables and other various food together for a balanced diet. Kidney bean is the most preferred dish by females among traditional meals, and the most preferred dish by males is soup made with ?tarhana? (dried food stuff made chiefly of curds and flour). Lentil soup is the one among the soups and bean dish is the one among the vegetable dishes that are most preferred by both genders. While the type of bread that is the most preferred by females is wholemeal bread, males prefer whole wheat bread. It was found out that in the past five years, water was the drink the consumption of which increased the most, the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables increased and the consumption of red meat, butter and margarine decreased. The consumers declared that avoiding excessive fat, consuming food with less cholesterol and avoiding over consumption sugar were of great importance to them. As a result of this research, it was found that females? attitudes towards healthy nutrition is more positive than the males?. It was observed that the difference between the total score averages with regard to the attitudes of consumers towards healthy nutrition is significant.
