Trafik kazalarıyla ilişkili sürücü tutum ve davranışları
Özet
One of the most important concept is attitude which is related to driver behaviors. According to main assumption of attitude research, attitudes effect the behaviors. Recent attitude research are influenced by Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). According to some researchers, several traffic behaviors can be explained by TPB. Interurban passenger transport is mainly by bus in Turkey. Therefore, compare to other drivers, interurban bus drivers must have positive attitudes and behaviors regarding traffic rules. In general, bus drivers have a high accident liability due to their large exposure to traffic. Besides they have to steer heavy vehicles, as far as passenger transport is concerned they also have to transport people. This combination of higher accident liability on one hand and higher responsibility on the other hand makes it necessary that bus drivers have to fulfill higher requirements regarding their fitness to drive as well. The aim of this study is to investigate the bus drivers' attitudes and behaviors regarding traffic as well as willingness to risk taking compare to other drivers. The sample of this study consisted of 284 interurban bus drivers and 260 other drivers who drive taxi, minibus, and otomobile. Driver Behaviors Inventory (Yiğit-lşık & Yasak, 1997), Willingness to Take Risk (Yasak & Öz, 1997), and Manchester Driver Behaviour Questionnaire (Parker, West, Stradling ve Manstead, 1995) were used as measurement tools. According to the results significant differences were found between interurban bus drivers and other drivers. Compare to other drivers, bus drivers had low risk taking scores. Furhermore they have positive attitudes towards traffic rules more than other drivers. The findings obtained from this research were discussed from a theoretical perspective and by taking the previous research into consideration.
