Dik yön boyutlarının değişimine göre yüzün kompanzasyonal gelişiminin longitudinal olarak incelenmesi
Abstract
The sample of this study was consisted of 160 lateral cephalometric files of 40 individuals which were obtained during 5 years period and derived from the files of the Department of Orthodontics of Faculty of Dentistry, University of Ankara. The material was divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 20 subjects with SN/Go-Me angle between 25-36 degrees. The second group also consisted of 20 individuals with SN/Go-Me angle greater than 36 degrees. ANB angle of all subject in both groups varied between 0-4 degrees, and all individuals were in the latent period of their development at the beginnig of observation. Sexes of the individuals were not taken into consideration. The following changes were found to be effective in the prevention of anterior open-bite; In the hyperdivergent group; the palatal plane rotated backward, and the SN/OP and SNPg angles were increased during the observation period. Although the ramal and the posterior facial heights were low initially, they also increased by development. During growth, the anterior dentoalveolar height was increased and the inclination of lower and upper first molars were displaced anteriorly. Due to all these compensational activities, the formation of open-bite was prevented in the hyperdivergent group.
