Karbon nanotüplerin elektronik özellikleri
Özet
Recently, carbon nanotubes which are formed rolling a graphene sheet into a hollow cylinder having diameters in nanometric scales and lenghts in micrometers are one of the center of interest in quasi one-dimensional structures for both theoretical and experimental condensed matter physicists. Without dopping, only changing their geometrical parameters is sufficient to change electronic properties and thus they have potential applications in both electronics and opto-electronics. In the first part of the thesis, firstly crystal lattice structure of a graphene sheet is studied, next electronic properties of graphene are analyzed within the frame work of tight binding and effective mass approaches, and then the denisty of states of graphene is investigated. Finally, crystal lattice and geometric structures of single walled carbon nanotubes are analyzed. The thesis aims to prepare necessary background to understand more sophisticated electronic properties of such structures which play vital role in future electronics.
