Yeni-işlevselcilik ışığında Avrupa bütünleşmesi
Özet
The main purpose of this thesis has been to analyse the evolution of the European integration within the context of neo-functionalism. First of all, basic assumptions of neo-functionalism are defined by the ideas of its founding father, Ernst B. Haas. In addition to this, the ?step by step integration? is explained within the core debate between neo-functionalism and intergovernmentalism. Finally, problems for the political integration of the EU is considered to be an obstacle for the final success of neo-functionalism. In spite of the theory?s successful assumptions for some phases of integration, it failed to explain the whole process, as well as the future of the EU. However, EU?s sui generis nature constitutes an obstacle to general theorizing efforts and each theory can only explain some pieces of the integration puzzle.
