Türkiye İşçi Partisi'nin parlamenter muhalefeti
Özet
This study dwells upon the parliamentary opposition of the Turkish Labour Party (TLP). The thesis aims to determine the way in which TLP raised political opposition during the period when it was represented at the Parliament, through a review of the speeches delivered by the TLP deputies between 1965 - 69 from the rostrum of the Parliament. The thesis is composed of two main sections. In the first section the revival of leftist background even stronger amid the climate of freedoms brought along by the new Constitution in 1960s and the establishment of the Turkish Labour Party which is a product of this background, its organisation and political stance have been reviewed in the light of the Party?s regulation and manifesto. Later on opposition within the Party has been touched upon and the first section has been concluded following a part on the closure of the Party in 1971 by the command of martial law authorities. In the second section an analysis on the way in which the TLP raised political opposition has been presented. Teun Van Dijk has been taken as a reference during the analysis and research categories have been formed on the basis of themes and linguistic features highlighted in the speeches of the deputies. The variety of issues delivered to the agenda by TLP during the period it was represented at the Parliament, as well as the way these issues were raised and the features of the language employed, revealed that the Party had carried out an effective opposition throughout the period analysed.
