Özet
The aim of the thesis is the evaluation of Turkish wine sector?s current situation, identification of its competitive position through European Union winemaking and foresight of potential changes in the sector during the negotiation process. The importance of the study is based on the idea that realization of the current environmental conditions and identification of the variables on which the competitive power intensifies can be used to foresee the changes on production, export facilities and foreign trade opportunities between two parties. These foresights can also be important for Turkey?s bargaining power during negotiations. Firstly, after mentioning some basic concepts related to competition in the study, wine making in European Union has been examined in the framework of Common Market Organization legislation and main principles of winemaking in Turkey have been considered. Then; foreign trade of wine between European Union and Turkey from past to present has been examined in the framework of Association Council Decisions. Conformity of Turkish wine making with European Union?s one has been analyzed in the framework of competition and as a result; it has been concluded that the alterations which might occur in legal process may not have significant effects on production potential however they may significantly affect import price in the long run. Moreover, it has also been concluded that the competitive environment in production may form in domestic demand variables, where, competitive environment in foreign trade might rise due to export increase and economic power.
