İslam ve modernite
Özet
In this thesis we try first to discuss the meaning and the significance of modernity, and try to show modernity in all its dimensions. Then we try to discuss the relation of modernity and slâm, What do Muslims understand by Modernity? Have they absorbed Western ideas, and is there an slâmic vision to Modernity, and finally we try to discuss the meaning of post modernity with relation to slâm. In generally the relation between slâm and modernity is thought to be negative .But i think it is superficial approach. In fact one has to go deeper both into slâmic philosophy as well as culture and history as into the meaning and significance of the term modernity. In fact Modernism and modernity have evoked great deal of controversy in the slâmic world .The response of the slâmic world also has not been uniform to the project of modernity. But in the same time, we can see that the modern West is itself riven by disagreements toward modernity. This challenges the often implicit equation of the modern condition with the western condition, it also undermines the opposition between slâm and the west by suggesting that there is an at times common critique of modernity, despite differences in the ways modernity has been experienced and defined. However, in every era of human history, modernity, or some equivalent term, has meant the ways, norms and standards of the dominant and expanding civilization. Every dominant civilization has its own modernity over a wide area and radiated (its) influence over a much broader, far beyond its imperial frontiers. Today, the dominant civilization is western, and western standards therefore, define modernity. But the question stil, will slâm respond?
