Abstract
A different accidents of violence and armed conflict appeared in Central Asiaand the Caucasus in the period of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the followingyears of 1990?s. In this study, researching the security policies of the former Sovietcountries and newli independent states of Central Asia and the Caucasus and,particularly, Russian Federation, the accidents of violence and the states? use of forcepracticies in the region have been triying to assess by the international law.For this aim, in the Chapter I of the study, there has been researched theRussian approach of use of force in the Sovyet Union period and then RussianFederation?s new security policy and its legal bases after 1991.In Chapter II, named `Self-Determination or Territorial Integrity in theCaucasus,? there has been researched the general approach of international law onthis subject, and then Russia?s conflict in Chechnya, Georgia?s conflicts in Abhazyaand South Osetya, and Azerbaijan?s conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.A subject of `Peacekeeping Activities or Interference in the Internal Affairs inCentral Asia and the Caucasus? has taken place in Chapter III. In this Chapter thegeneral approach of international law on the peacekeeping operations and then theRussian activities in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan has been researched.In the Chapter IV, by the subject of ` ?War? with Terrorism and Its LegalBases?, the use of force to the acts of terrorism in international law norms and thestruggle activity with terrorism in Central Asia and the Caucasus and the states?approach has been researched.In the last Chapter, named `General Assessment and Conclussion,? there isthe assessment of concluding remarks of the main subjects of the study and thegeneral conclussion of the work.
