Abstract
ATİK, Bilal. ?The Messages Conveyed through the Stories of David and Solomon, as a King and Prophet.? M.A Thesis. Supervisor: Prof. Dr. İdris ŞENGÜL, 173+VI p.Qur?an has been sent to the earth to help people gain peace both in heaven and on the world. The Glorious Qur?an, a guide book leading to eternal salvation true path, uses various stylistics and methods for its readers to get the message understood. One of them is the moral of the story. With their stylistics, the moral stories are told to Qur?an?s audience to advise and teach lessons. The stories of David and Solomon are the striking stories told in different parts of the Qur?an in different contexts, some episodes of which were prioritized. The first thing here is that both David and Solomon are both prophets and kings, thus making them eminent historical figures and role-models. In this context, their stories not only shape the moral framework of the believers ? building up their character but also a societal Islamic guideline for a social life, making them referential. From this respect, the importance of the messages highlighted in their stories doubles. In this study we have tried to deal with the messages told through the stories of David and Solomon. Our study is comprised of three main chapters. In the introduction, a general overview has been dwelt upon. In the first chapter, a brief history of Jewish people has been focused on and the reigns of David and Solomon have been elaborated. Besides, their stories were told in biblical way. In the second chapter, the Quranic versions of their stories have been told. In the last chapter, all the messages tried to be conveyed have been explained in detail
