6 yaş çocuklarında sosyal yeterliliğin, akran ilişkilerinin ve sosyal bilgi işleme sürecinin değerlendirilmesi
Abstract
Assesing social competence has crucial importance in pre-schoolingperiod, especially during school readiness. In this preparation period,counseling which aims to identify the child?s strong and weak sides in terms ofsocial competence is considered to be necessary as it eases the child?sorientation period, helps the child develop a strong relationship with his/herpeers and enhances his/her success in the school.This study aims to identify the social competent fields of kindergartenstudents, the relationship between their peer status and social informationprocessing, and the relationship of the effect of sex and the education level ofthe parents on the children?s social competence, peer status and socialinformation processing.62 students are included in this study. The students are attendingdifferent pre-schools of private elementary schools and a private kindergarten,all of which are pre-schools for 6-year-old children in Antalya. In order toasses the social competence of the students, Blankemeyer and all (2002) atool for identifying preschoolers' deficits in social competence: ?The PreschoolTaxonomy of Problem Situation? is adapted into Turkish and used in thestudy. In order to identify the peer status of the students, a sociometric ratingscale which is developed by Asher and all (1979) is used. For the socialinformation processing, ?Social Information Processing Evalutaion? by Weissand all (1982) is also used in this study.In data analysis, Chi-Square Test is applied.As a result it has been observed that there is a consistent relationshipof the lower levels of the OPDS scale in the expectations of the teacher andreactive agresiveness, in regard sexual differences.
