The purpose of the study is to explore the use of Information Technology in Foreign Language Teaching. Information Technology components, Computers, Multimedia, CD-ROMs, Foreign Language Teaching software and internet are taken into account and positive affect of these components to Language Teaching is studied. Various software developed for French Teaching are evaluated. In order to do that, a form which can ease the technical and pedagogic evaluation of the product is developed. Ministry of Education (M.E.) carries out projects that aim to modernize the current education system and to enforce widespread use of Information Technology features. A questionnaire, "Use of Information Technology in Foreign Language Teaching" is developed and applied to English language teachers and 60 students of "Fethiye Kemal Mumcu Anadolu Lisesi", which is selected as a pilot high school for M.E.'s "Improvement of Foreign Language Teaching" project. This study explores the features of Information Technology components, which components of Information Technology can be used and at which steps they can be used in order to achieve a right, fast and a durable foreign language education. In order to help further studies in this topic, this study aims to prepare a background where Information Technology components and their use in Foreign Language teaching are explored. The document includes suggestions for subjects of interest for further research in this topic.
