Investment is defined as directing economic units in a direction for a certain profit purpose and utilizing them for this purpose. Investment incentives include or are equated with concepts such as encouraging, subsidizing, supporting and state incentives for investments to be made for a certain purpose. Numerous studies examine the investment incentives in the world and Turkey, from regional or different angles. The main purpose of this study is to examine the situation of the defence industry which becomes one of the priority investment areas in Turkey. In other words, within the scope of study, what kind of investment incentive system has examined that Turkey has applied in order to reach the domesticity rates in the defence industry determined by development plans. In the study, the investment, the purpose of the incentives, the criticism of the investment incentives, investmen incentive application in defence industry and the history of the defence industry were summarized according to the literature. Within the scope of the new support system announced in 2012, the defence industry was included in priority investment areas and a significant amount of budget was allocated. Investments in the defence industry sector are supported regardless of the region. It seems to the current outcome of the investment support system is positive because the pertaining data of Turkey's defence industry are increase. The turnover of the industrial sector, which was 8,76 billion dollars in 2018, increased by 24.23% and reached 10,88 billion dollars in 2019. It was determined that the increase in foreign sales was 40.41%. The employment rate in the Defence Industry increased by 9,71% and reached 73771 people. Turkey's defence industry with support and encouragement were given showed rapid development especially in the last ten years. The priority of the products and services produced from the defence sector is that they should have high quality desired features long before the cost. Considering the positive effects of the defence industry on the economy, the existing supports and incentives should continue for the continuity of the sector.
