The Mughal Empire is a Muslim empire founded on the territory of India. The architecture of the Empire was different, although interactions could be seen in the world from other empires belonging to the Islamic religion and from the architecture in Iran, the origin of the founder Babur Shah. This thesis examines the monumental tomb of the second ruler of the Empire, built during the reign of Akbar Shah. This research focuses not only on the architectural aspects but also the cultural environment and history of the Mughal Empire. The tomb, which still retains its grandeur today, is the first example of monumental tombs in India and was built with both political and spiritual passion for the empire. The architecture, which is an example of craftsmanship, influenced the architectural structures made in the period 19th century until the fall of the Empire and led to a new trend for the structures produced by people of the Islamic religion in India. This thesis especially concentrates on Indian art and its effects on the architecture of the Mughal Empire, the functions of monumental tombs in eclectic society, and the surrounding structures of Humayun's Tomb.tr_TR
