Bağlanmadan psikolojik belirtilere giden yollar: Zihinselleştirme açısından bir değerlendirme
Özet
We aimed (1) to conduct a Turkish adaptation, validity, and reliability study of Reflective Functioning Questionnaire-Youth that measures mentalization capacity in adolescents in the preliminary study; (2) to test a theoretical model based on the intergenerational transmission of mentalization for the development of psychological symptoms in adolescents, and (3) to examine the moderating mechanisms in the intergenerational transmission of secure attachment in adolescents in the main study. The sample of the preliminary study consisted of 235 adolescents aged 13-17 years. Participants completed the Reflective Functioning Questionnaire-Youth(RFQ-Y), Basic Empathy Scale, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, and Parental Bonding Instrument. The sample of the main study consisted of 276 adolescents, aged 13-17 years, and their primary caregivers. In the main study, adolescents completed the RFQ-Y, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, Brief Symptom Inventory, Quality of the Parent-Adolescent Relationship; mothers completed Parental Bonding Instrument, Brief Symptom Inventory, Reflective Functioning Questionnaire-8, Parental Reflective Functioning Questionnaire, and Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised. Results showed that the internal consistency of the RFQ-Y was acceptable. The theoretical model based on intergenerational mentalization for the development of psychological symptoms in adolescents was tested with the Structural Equation Model; the model had fit to the data. Moderated moderation analysis demonstrated that mentalization of adolescents moderated the association between secure parental attachments of mother-child dyads. In conclusion, the present study makes a unique empirical contribution to current mentalization-based development models by examining the effects of early attachment relationships on psychopathological development in adolescence through mechanisms transmitted from parent to child.
