dc.description.abstractA new benz­imidazole compound, methyl 1-n-butyl-2-(3,4-di­chloro­phenyl)-1H-benz­imidazole-5-carboxyl­ate, C19H18Cl2N2O2, has been synthesized by the condensation of methyl 3-amino-4-(n-butyl­amino)­benzoate with an Na2S2O5 adduct of 3,4-di­chloro­benz­aldehyde. The mol­ecule is twisted with a C-C-C-N torsion angle of -39.7 (3)° between the phenyl and benzimidazole groups. In the crystal structure, symmetry-related mol­ecules are linked by C-H...O interactions, forming a chain.
