XIX. yüzyılda Alman doğa bilimi ve felsefesinin Osmanlı düşüncesindeki yansımaları

Abstract

XIX. yüzyılda Alman doğa bilimi ve felsefesine ilişkin çeşitli eserlerin Türkçeye çevrilerek Osmanlı düşünce hayatına kazandırıldığı bilinmektedir. Çevrilen eserler ve aktarılan felsefî akımlar arasında Almanya'da XIX. yüzyılın ortalarında başta Ludwig Büchner, Karl Vogt, Jacob Moleschott ve Ernst Haeckel gibi bilim adamları ve düşünürlerin geliştirdikleri bilimsel materyalizm akımı da bulunmaktadır. Çalışmamızda bilimsel materyalizmin ortaya çıktığı ülke olan Almanya'da bu akımın temsilcilerinin düşünce hayatında yaptıkları etki incelenmiş ve döneme damgasını vurmuş olan 1848 Devrimi ile ilişkileri ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca bilimsel materyalistlerin, aynı dönemde ve aynı coğrafyada geliştirilmiş olan bir başka materyalizm türünün, diyalektik ve tarihsel materyalizmin temsilcileri ile, yani Marksistlerle olan ilişkileri değerlendirilmiştir. Sonrasında ise bu akımın Osmanlı'ya yansıması ele alınmış ve burada yol açtığı ve Cumhuriyet'in erken dönemine kadar süren etkileri, başlıca taraftarları ve karşıtlarının yayınları üzerinden incelenmiştir. Burada her iki tarafın temsilcilerinin hayatlarına ve toplumsal konumlarına da bakılmıştır. Tespit edilen bu yansımanın ise modernleşme sürecinde bulunan ve bu çerçevede geleneksel yapı ve dünya görüşü ile modern yapı ve dünya görüşünün mücadelesine sahne olan Osmanlı'daki etkileri tartışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda bilimsel materyalizmin modern bilim anlayışının Osmanlı düşünce hayatına girişindeki ve geleneksel paradigmanın yıkılışındaki etkileri de değerlendirilmiştir. Tezimizle, böylelikle, Osmanlı'ya modern bilimlerin girişi ve modern bilim paradigmasının oluşumuna ilişkin anlayışımıza bir katkı sunulmaya çalışılmıştır.

It is known that various treatise and works regarding the XIXth century German philosophy and the natural sciences have been translated into Turkish and brought to the Ottoman thought. Scientific materialism, developed by German scientists and thinkers such as Ludwig Büchner, Karl Vogt, Jacob Moleschott and Ernst Haeckel stands among translated œuvres and transmitted philosophical movements. This study treats the influence of scientific materialists on the intellectual milieu of Germany, country of origin of the current, and how they interrelated with the unsettling revolutions of 1848. The study further probes the relation between scientific materialists and representatives of a concurrent sort of materialism that emerged in the same country, the dialectical and historical materialism id est Marxists. Afterwards, the reflections of scientific materialism on the Ottoman's and its repercussions during the Ottoman rule and early republican era on the basis of the publications of its main supporters and opponents has been analysed. Biographical and social backgrounds of the agents of both sides are herein taken into consideration. The identified reflections in the Ottoman society in due course of modernisation and therefore a scenery to the conflict between the traditional structure and world view and the modern structure and world view are subsequently discussed. Within this context, the study evaluates the impact of scientific materialism on the introduction of the conception of modern science to the Ottoman Empire along with its effects on the decadence of the established paradigm. Herewith, the thesis aims to contribute to our understanding of the introduction of the modern sciences to the Ottoman thought and the formation of a modern scientific paradigm.
