The purpose of this study is to show opposite and common points in the philosophies of Levinas, the contemporary thinker, and Platon, the antiquity thinker. On the one hand we have an understanding that an ethics which based on to ontology and on the other hand another that an ethics which excludes ontology. For Plato, the ethical field is entered into with the Good beyond Being. Because he began to doubt how the relationship was established the relationship between the visible world and the world of ideals in the theory of Forms which was mentioned in the ontology's section. Afterwards, Plato has reached to the conclusion that the ideals correspond to plurality rather than unity. And for Plato, the place that will give us the unity is the Good beyond Being which is utterly other than field of being. When it comes to how to reach to the Good beyond Being, Plato said that the mind that gives knowledge of the ideals is not capable of in this field. Because the Good beyond Being goes beyond the limits of ontology, not only of the visible world but also of the world of ideals. According to Plato, who considers death, eros, and finally virtue as steps to reach the Good beyond Being, the justice is virtue that he regards as the ultimate virtue will give us the Good beyond Being. As for Levinas, field of ethics is entered with the Other. As for the Other is the absolute otherness that transcends the area of being rather than an alter ego that refers to the area of being. In this sense, Levinas primarily mentions from death and eros about how the otherness will be obtained, actually for him it is obtained only with responsibility. The claim of this study is that although philosophy of Levinas is based on to criticism of Western metaphysics, especially Plato, his thinking is back to Plato's thinking in terms of fundamental problems such problem of the first philosophy, death, eros, responsibility, ethical discourse and ethic's goal.tr_TR
