An example of a brief orientation program: students’ adaptation levels of and opinions about the program
Özet
The purpose of this study was to investigate the
effect of a brief orientation program on the adjustment levels of the
university first grade students, and to find out their opinions as regards
the orientation program. The study was conducted with 321 students
who were registered in 2005-06 academic year. ‘Adjustment to
University Scale’ was utilized for determining the adjustment levels
and ‘Orientation Program Evaluating Questionnaire’ for discovering
the students’ opinions about the program. The findings showed that
there is no difference in terms of adjustment levels between the
students who attended the orientation program and those who did not
attend the program. A great number of students considered the
orientation activities useful and necessary as they help them to be
familiar with the new surroundings.
