Çalışmada üç farklı kompozit materyali (Filtek Supreme XT, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, A.B.D.; Filtek 250, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, A.B.D.; Filtek Silorane, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, A.B.D.) kullanıldı. AbstractDepending on the type of diet and feeding habits, restorative materials may react with different types of food. Food simulating liquids are used to!investigate the effect of nutrition on physical properties of different types of restorative materials. Even though there are many research studies in literature about the influence of food simulating liquids on physical properties like surface roughness and hardness of composite resins, the influence of food simulating liquids on water sorption and solubility characteristiscs of composite resins is insufficiently studied. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of food simulating liquids and storage time on water sorption and solubility behaviours of composites with different structural features. Three different types of composite materials (Filtek Supreme XT, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, USA; Filtek 250, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, USA.; Filtek Silorane, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, USA) were used in this study. Specimens prepared from different composite materials (n=10) were immersed in distilled water, heptane, citric acid, and ethanol for 7, 14, 21 and 30 days. Baseline weight measurements of specimens were performed; then, at the end of the storage time weight measurements were repeated. In order to determine solubility values at the end of the storage time, specimens were placed at the dessicator for 24 hours and final weight measurments were performed. In light of the data gathered, water sorption and solubility values were calculated. In the statistical evaluation done by the Kruskal-Wallis H and Friedman tests, it was found that the diet types in this study has no significant influence on the water sorption and solubility behavior of composite resins. Water sorption and solubility of composite restorations are vital in the longetivity of composite resins. The influence of different diet types on physical properties of composite resins has to be well-known while choosing the right material.
