dc.description.abstractAbstract Wooden occupation is one of the branch of Anatolian Turkish Art, about which there is no enough study. This art branch shows a certain development with the technical and esthetic properties according to the periods, which has very different kinds of rich samples such as minber (the pulpit), kürsü (the chair), the sar cophagus, rahle (low reading-desk), the cupboard wing, the door and the window wings. In the middle of the 15th century, namely, the conquest of istanbul constitutes a very important turning point in this line of development. The topic of our study is the wooden door wings from the beginning up to this turning point. The samples of fifty-five door wings are investigated deeply according to their production technique, decoration technique, the diagram and decoration in the study of " The Wooden Doors In Anatolian Turkish Art Up To The Middle Of 15th Century M. In the production of the door wings, many different kinds of techniques are used such as pounding, meshing and meshing and kündekari (Tab lo 1). The techniques of kündekari (real kündekari, imitation kün dekari ), carving ( smooth surface, round surface, channeled and two-layered carving and curved cutting ), scraping, in laid and openwork sticking are used in several decorations ( Tablo 2 ). One can see the every kinds of decorations on wooden doors such as vegetal, geometrical, hand-writing and figure. But the figured decoration is limited by the examples of 13th century. We can see the other all decorations in all periods. These decorati ons, usually based on the characteristics of the periods but they have been gained their shapes according to their master's styles. When the door wings decorations are shaped, especially dis tributions to surfaces, the important factor is the diagram which is preffered. Unquestionably the diagrams are shaped according to their master's decorations that he wanted or some present diagrams which are convenient to the decorations taken to be as an example.
