AbstractIn the first stage of this thesis, ZnO and TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized followingthe hydrothermal methodology. The synthesized nano-metal oxide particles were thencharacterized by XRD, TEM and BET analyzes. The particle size of the synthesizedZnO and TiO2 metal oxide nanoparticles was found to be in the range of 30-50 nm and15-25 nm, respectively. In the second stage of the study, the catalytic effect of pyrolizine on the different typesof low-grade lignites of synthesized metal oxide nanoparticles was investigated. As aresult of the pyrolysis experiments without catalyst, the maximum temperature at whichthe total gas product yields were maximized was 700 °C, and a series of experimentswere carried out using catalysts of 1 %, 5 % and 15 % to investigate the effect of theamount of nanocatalyst in this temperature. The results showed that for each catalyst, the optimum amount of catalyst was 1 %. In the last stage, lignite samples werepyrolyzed with zeolite, which is highly preferred in the literature, and the results werecompared with nanocatalysted results in order to demonstrate the difference andeffectiveness of the nanocatalyst. The composition of the obtained gas products wasdetermined by μGC
