Benlik saygısı arkadaşlardan ve aileden sağlanan sosyal destek: Üniversite öğrencileriyle yapılan bir çalışma

Bu çalışmada, Ankara'da bulunan çeşitli üniversitelerin, kız ve erkek öğrencilerinin aileden ve arkadaşlardan algıladıkları sosyal desteğin, öğrencilerin benlik-saygısı ile ilişkili olup olmadığına bakılmıştır. Araştırmaya 201 denek katılmıştır. Deneklerin 124'ü kız, 77'si erkektir. Kız ve erkek öğrenciler, yurtta ve aile yanında kalanlar olarak iki örneklem grubuna ayrılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları, Aileden Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği punalarıyla, Offer Benlik İmgesi ölçeğine Aile İlişkileri alt ölçeğinden alman punalar arasında anlamlı ve yüksek bir ilişki olduğunu göstermiştir. Arkadaşlardan Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği puanlarıyla Offer Benlik İmgesi Ölçeğinin Sosyal İlişkiler alt ölçeğinden alman puanlar arasında anlamlı bir yüksek bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Sonuçlar en fazla sosyal destek algılanan kaynağın aile olduğunu göstermiştir. Çalışmanın bulguları cinsiyetin sosyal destek algılamasına ilişkin olarak önemli bir rolü olduğunu göstermiştir. Bulgular, erkek öğrencilerin kız öğrencilere göre sosyal destek algılamalarına daha fazla önem verdiklerini ortaya koymuştur. Bu sonuç erkek üniversite öğrencilerinin ailelerinden daha çok maddesel sosyal destek istiyor olmalarına bağlanmıştır.AbstractIn this research, it is analysed whether the social support that male and female students who are from various universities in Ankara, perceive from their family and friends are related with the students self esteem or not. 201 subjects attended to the research. This subjects consist of 124 females and 77 males. Female and male students are divided into two sample groups. In one group there are students who live hostel and the other group consists of students who live in their houses. The finding of the research showed that the scale of the Offer Self Image significantly and highly related with the points obtained from the sub-scale of Family Relations. It is found that there is a significant and high relation between the scale points of the Social Support Perceived from Friends and the points from Social Relations sub-scale of Offer Self Image Scale. The result show that the source from which the most social support is perceived is the family. The findings of the study showed that that the sex of the person does not has an important role for the perception of social support. The finding presented that male students give importance to social social support perception more than female students to. This conclusion is interpreted as male university students want more material social support
