İnsanoğlunun doğa ve toplum ile olan ilişkisinin doğası gereği ortaya çıkan kültür ürünlerinden biri olan halk dansı bu tezin konusunu oluşturmaktadır. "Adana Bölgesi Halk Danslarının Sistematik Analizi" başlıklı bu tez çalışmasında, etnolojik araştırmalarda belirgin bir boşluğu doldurmak, uzun ve zorlu bir öğrenme süreci yoluyla edinilen bilimsel bir yöntemin anlaşılmasını sağlamaktadır. Tezin giriş bölümü, dansa ilişkin teorik tartışmalardan oluşmaktadır. Buradaki vurgu, dansın doğuşu ve işlevi, halk dansları ve Adana bölgesinin halk danslarına özel önem verilerek dans kültürü üzerinde duruyor. Buna ek olarak, konunun kuramsal çerçevesi, çeşitli dans teorileri ve halk dansının yapısal dinamikleri üzerine bir tartışma yoluyla kurulmuştur. Tezde kullanılan metot ve teknikler, Adana bölgesinin tarihi, ekolojik, ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel yapısına girişten sonra verilmiştir. Tezin amacı, teorik çerçevede sunulan bilgiler ışığında alan çalışmaları sırasında toplanan verilerin analizi yoluyla bölgesel halk oyunlarıyla bazı kültürel kuramlar arasındaki bağlantıları kurarak senteze varmaktır.AbstractFolk dance, which is one of the cultural products which arise as a natural conseqence of man's relationship with nature and society, constitutes the subject matter of this thesis. What is attempted in this thesis, entittled "A Systematic Analysis of the Folk Dances of the Adana Region", is to fill an obvious gap in ethnological research with the guidance of an understanding of scientific method acquired through a long and toilsome process of learning. The introductory section of the thesis consists of theoretical discussions concerning dance. The emphasis here is on the culture of dancing with special attention to the origin of dance and its function, folk dance, and the folk dances of the Adana region. In addition, the theoreical frame of the subject is established through a discussion of various theories of dance, and the structural dynamics of folk dance. An exposition of the method and techniqes used in the thesis is given after an introduction to the historical, ecological, economical, and socio-cultural structure of the Adana region. The aim of the thesis is to arrive at a synthesis by establishing connections between regional folk dances and some cultural theories through an analysis of the data collected during field work in the light of the insights offered within the theoretical framework.
