| dc.description.abstract | Araştırmanın amacı Ankara’da özel bir lisede uygulanan UluslararasıBakalorya Diploma Programından mezunların, UBDP’ye ilişkin görüşleriniortaya koymaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu UBDP programından 2002-2012 yılları arasında mezun olmuş 25 üniversite öğrencisi veya üniversitemezunu oluşturmaktadır.Araştırmada veri toplama süreci nitel yaklaşımla yürütülmüştür. Nitelaraştırmada sıklıkla kullanılan veri toplama tekniklerinden birisi olan “açık uçlugörüşme formu” kullanılmıştır. Toplanan veriler Nvivo10 programındanfaydalanılarak, dört aşamada analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilenbulgular şu şekilde özetlenebilir:Birinci bölümde mezunların UBDP’yi tercih etme sebeplerine ilişkinbulgular ortaya çıkmıştır. Mezunlar UBDP’yi tercih etmede en fazla etkinin,“Aileleri” olduğunu dile getirmişlerdir. Programı tercih etme sebepleri “Kalitelieğitim” alma istekleridir. UBDP’den beklentilere ilişkin en fazla karşılananbeklenti “üst düzey beceriler”dir. Karşılanmayan beklentilerden ise mezunlar“Gerçekleşmeyen beklentim yok” görüşünü dile getirilmişlerdir. DPmezunlarının programı yakınlarına önerme nedenlerinden en fazla belirtilen“Bireysel katkı” görüşüdür. Ancak yakınlarına önermeme nedenleri arasındaise “Üniversite sınavına hazırlanamama” yer almaktadır.İkinci bölümde UBDP mezunlarının DP sürecine ilişkin sonuçları ortayakonulmuştur. Mezunlara göre programın içeriğinin en olumlu yönü “Farklı birbakış açısı” kazanmalarıdır. Olumsuz yönü ise programda “Yoğun ödevler”bulunmasıdır. DP’nin ulusal programdan farkı ise “Ezberci eğitimden uzak” olmasıdır. Mezunlar ayrıca Bilgi Kuramı dersinin “Analitik düşüme becerisini”geliştirdiğini belirtmişlerdir. Mezunlar tarafından Yaratıcılık, Bedensel Etkinlikve Toplum Hizmet çalışması ile ilgili “Sosyal aktivitelere katılım sağlama”görüşü daha çok vurgulanmıştır. Bitirme tezlerinde ise “Bilimsel metotlarıöğrenme” yi sağladığı üzerinde durmuşlardır. Mezunlar ayrıca programdakiderslerde en çok “Aktif öğrenme yöntemlerinin” kullanıldığını dilegetirmişlerdir.UBDP’nin sürecinde yer alan iç değerlendirme sisteminin olumluyönlerinden mezunlar tarafından en fazla üzerinde durulan husus;değerlendirme sisteminin “Yararlı/ gerekli” olduğudur. İç değerlendirmesisteminin en olumsuz yanı ise “Fazla deney raporu” yazmalarıdır. UBDP dışdeğerlendirme sistemi ile ilgili ise en fazla belirtilen olumlu görüş, yapılandiploma sınavlarının “Programa uygun” olduğudur. Öte yandan yapılansınavların olumsuz yanı ise “Uygulama zamanı sorunu” dur. Mezunların UBprogramında diploma almaya hak kazanmak için gösterdikleri çaba vefedakarlığa ilişkin “Ekstra vakit ayırma” görüşü en fazla tekrarlanandır.Mezunların programda yaşadığı sorunlar “Aşırı çalışmak” ve “Zaman sıkıntısı”dır. Bu sorunlarla daha çok “Arkadaş desteği” ile başa çıktıklarınıbelirtmişlerdir.Üçüncü bölümde, program mezunlarının mezuniyet sonrasındakigörüşlerine ilişkin bulgular belirlenmiştir. Mezunlar programın üniversiteseçimlerine herhangi bir “Etkisi olmadığı” görüşündedirler. Katılımcılara göreprogramın üniversite sınavındaki katkısı “Bilgilerimle zor soruları çözdüm” ve“Gerekli zamanı ayıramadım” şeklindedir. Programın mezunların kariyerlerinibelirlemedeki etkisi ise “İlgi alanlarını fark etme” olarak belirtilmiştir.Üniversitede alınan eğitimle ilgili olarak programın “Üniversitede akademikbaşarıyı” artırdığı sonucuna varılmıştır. DP’den alınan eğitimin bireyselfaydası mezunlar tarafından “Açık fikirli olmak” olarak belirtilmiştir. MezunlarUB diploması ile mezun olmanın üniversite eğitimindeki avantajlarınıakademik başarı getirisi olarak görmektedirler.Dördüncü bölümde ise, UBDP’yi geliştirmek için sunulan önerilereilişkin sonuçlar analiz edilmiştir. Mezunlar diploma programını geliştirmek için“Programın yaygınlaştırılması” önerisinde bulunmuşlardır. AbstractThe purpose of this research is to reveal the ideas of the studentsabout the International Bachelor’s Diploma Programme (IBDP) applied in aprivate high school in Ankara which they graduated from. The study group ofthis research is composed of 25 students, graduated from IBDP programmebetween 2002-2012, or graduated from university.In the research, data collection process was performed with qualitativeapproach. In qualitative research, “open ended negotiation form”, which is oneof the data collection techniques, was frequently used. Collected datas wereanalyzed on four stages by utilizing from Nvivo10 programme. These findingsproduced in the research can be summarized like this:In the first chapter, the findings relating to reasons why graduatesprefer IBDP appeared. Graduates said that their families have maximalinfluence on their preference of IBDP. The reasons why graduates preferredIBDP are their desire for taking high quality education. Relating toexpectations from IBDP, high rank abilities are the most sought afterexpectation. Expectations that are not met, students said that they didn’t haveany. The reason why DP graduates suggested this programme to theirrelatives is mostly the idea of “personal input”. However, not being able toprepare for university takes place among the reasons why they don’t suggestthe programme to their relatives. In the second chapter, the most positive side of the programme insideis their gaining a different point of view. The negative side in the programme istoo much homework. The difference of DP from the international programmeis it is far from memorization in education. Also, graduates expressed that thetheory of knowledge course improves analytical thinking ability. It wasemphasized that Creativity, Action and Service studies provide them withsocial activities about social duty study. In the extended essay they stated thatit provides learning scientific methods. Also they said that active learningtechniques are mostly used in the IBDP courses.The point which the graduates rank first among, the positive sides ofinternal evaulation system in IBDP process is that evaluation system is useful/neccessary. The most negative side of international evaulation is that theywrite many laboratory reports. The diploma exams are suitable for theprogramme. It is the most positive side about IBDP external evaulationsystem. However, the negative side of these exams is the problem about timefor practice. The graduates struggle and sacrifice a great deal to have theright for a diploma in the IB programme. Relating to this, the most repeatedidea is to have extra time. Graduates have some problems in the programme.The problems are to studying hard and time problem. They stated that theymanaged to get rid of these problems with friend support.In the third chapter, the finds relating to the thoughts of programmegraduates were set. The graduates think that this programme has no effectsin their university choices. According to the participants, the effect of thisprogramme in the university exam is as follows; “I solved the difficultquestions with my knowledge” and “I didn’t have enough time”. The effect ofthis programme in setting their career is emphasized as recognizing theirfields of interest. Relating to the education at university, the programmeincreased the academic success at university. They arrived at this conclusion.The personal advantage of this education taken from DP is expressed asbeing open minded. Graduates would like to hold an IB degree since theybelieve that it would be an advantage for their prospective academic careers.In the fourth part, the conclusions relating to suggestions made toimprove IBDP were analyzed. Graduates suggested that “the diplomaprogramme should be spread in order to improve it”. | |
