AbstractThe aim of this study is to investigate the relationships betweenEmployee Silence, Job Satisfaction, Locus of Control and DemographicVariables among the Teachers. In light of this aim, 1) Whether theDemographic Variables, Job Satisfaction and Locus of Control predicts theSilence due to Indiffirence and resignation, which is a subscale of Employeesilence, 2) Whether the Demographic Variables, Job Satisfaction and Locusof Control predicts the Silence due to Self-Protection and Fear, which is asubscale of Employee silence, 3) Whether the Demographic Variables, JobSatisfaction and Locus of Control predicts the Silence due to maintaining ofRelations, which is a subscale of Employee silence are examined.Additionally, it is investigated whether or not the Employee Silence, JobSatisfaction, Locus of Control differs according to the demographic variablessuch as sex, education, marital status, perceived parent attitute, socioeconomic level of the region where they are employed.According to the findings, Job Satisfaction among the male teachersare higher compared to the female teachers. Female teachers are moreexternally controlled than the male teachers. Employee silence levels ofmale and female teachers do not reasonably differ according to sex.Employee silence, job satisfaction and locus of control of the teachers do notshow a reasonable discrepancy looking at their marital status. Jobsatisfaction level differs depending on the perceived father attitude.According to this, Job satisfaction of teachers those who perceived their father to be authoritarian and democrat is higher than those of perceive theirfather to be inconstant.Employee silence and locus of control of the teachers do not differdepending on perceived father attitude. Employee silence, job satisfactionand locus of control do not differ according to the perceived mother attitude. When we look at the employee silence, job satisfaction and locus of controllevels of the teachers depending on their education levels, it is observed thatjob satisfaction among the teachers who hold an Associate Degree is highercompared to those who have high school, Bachelor’s and Master degrees.Additionally, the teachers holding high school and associate degrees aremore internally controlled compared to those having bachelor’s and masterdegrees.Job satisfaction of the teachers differs depending on thesocioeconomic properties of the region where they are employed. It isobserved that the job satisfaction of the teachers working in a region that isthe level of up socio-economic is higher than those who are employed in aregion that is the level of middle socio-economic. Furthermore, it is found thatthe teachers working in in a region that is the level of the middle socioeconomicare more externally controlled compared to the up socioeconomic’steachers. However, employee silence of the teachers working indifferent regions does not show a reasonable discrepancy.Additionally in this study, regression analysis is used in order todetermine whether the demographic variables (sex, education, marital status, perceived parent attitute, lenght of service, socioeconomic level of theregion), job satisfaction and locus of control variables predicts the silencedue to Indifference and resignation, silence due to self-protection and fearand silence due to maintaining of relations, which are the subscale ofemployee silence. According to the results of the analysis, it is found thatthose who perceive their mother as authoritarian, have lower degrees ofeducation, have lower job satisfaction and are externally controlled havehigher levels of silence due to Indifference and resignation. On the otherside, it is observed that those who have low job satisfaction and areexternally controlled have higher levels of silence due to self-protection andfear. Lastly, it is observed that those who have higher external control levelshave higher levels of silence due to maintaining of relations.
