Bu çalışmanın konusu, Türk dilinin Kuzey-Batı (Kıpçak) alanı içinde yer alan Aral- Hazar grubunu oluşturan Kırgız, Kazak, Karakalpak ve Nogay Türkçelerinin tarihî karşılaştırmalı ses bilgisidir. Bu tezle Aral-Hazar Grubu Kıpçak Türk lehçelerinin Türkçenin ses tarihi içindeki gelişimleri ve bu lehçeler arasındaki fonetik ilişkiler ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Lehçelerin birbirleriyle olan yakınlıkları ve geçişler tespit edilmeye, böylece hem kendi aralarındaki fonetik bağlar, hem de Genel Türk dili içindeki konumlan belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. 319 sayfadan oluşan çalışmanın girişinde kısaca konu, çalışmaya temel olan malzemenin elde edilişi ve kullanılan yöntemden söz edilmiştir. Bu bölümün sonunda çalışmada kullanılan kısaltmalar ve işaretler de verilmiştir. Birinci bölümde Aral-Hazar grubu içinde yer alan Kıpçak Türk halklarının tarihleri, adlan, coğrafyalan, konuştuklan lehçelerin yazı dili haline gelişi ve bu lehçelerin ağızlan anlatılmıştır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde Ortak Türkçe ve Aral-Hazar Grubu Kıpçak Türk lehçelerinin ünlü ve ünsüz düzenleri incelenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde Ortak Türkçe ve Aral-Hazar Grubu Kıpçak Türk lehçelerinin ses düzeni karşılaştınlmıştır. Bu bölümün sonunda ses gruplannda görülen gelişmeler ve ses olaylan değerlendirilmiştir. Abstract The topic of the this thesis comprises of the historical comparative phonetics of the Aralo-Caspian Kipchak Turkish dialects, ie. Kirgiz, Kazak, Karakalpak and Nogay. In this dissertation, the interaction among these dialects, the influence upon each other, the phonetic relations among these dialects, have been discussed in detail. Moreover efforts have been made to determine their linguistic situations in the General Turkish language. In the preface of this thesis, which comprises of 319 pages, the skope of the topic, the suitability of the basic material and the possibilities of its depth, have been scrutinized at length. The method of its presentation has also been examined in this very chapter. In the last part of this chapter a list of the abbrevations, used in the thesis, has been provided as well. In the first chapter, the names, a brief and the geografical conditions of the Kirgiz, Kazak, Karakalpak, Nogay Kipchak Turkish peoples have been putforth briefly. Moreover the dialects spoken in these communities and the stages of their development from the spoken languages to the written languages, have also been discussed in this chapter. In the second chapter of the thesis the vowel and consonant systems of the Aralo- Caspian sub-group of the North-Western Turkish dialects, ie. Kirgiz, Kazak, Karakalpak, Nogay, and the Common Turkish have been discussed at length. In the third and the last chapter, the phonetic system of the Aralo-Caspian Kipchak Turkish dialects have been compared with the phonetic system of Common Turkish. In the end of this chapter the different stages of the development of phonetic groups have been elucidated as well.
