Abstract Female Oncopeltus fasciatus brain is composed of three parts; protocerebrum, deutocerebrum and tritocerebrum. The suboeso- phageal ganglion is joined to tritocerebrum by circum oesophageal connectives.A pair of corpora cardiaca is fused with unpaired corpora allata, just behind the brain. Neurosecretory areas in brain were not stained with "Per- formic acid - Victoria blue 4 R" total staining technique, but only aor ta wall were stained. For histological studies the "haematoxylien - eosin, chrome - haemotoxylin - phloxine and paraldehyde fuchsin stain techniques have been applied to the sections. Neurosecretory cells have been classified A, B and C types according to their granules and the size and to paraldehyde fuchsin technique. In insects flight testing was applied to the specimens that reared under short day photoperiod. A and B types of neurosecretory cells were shown only median region in brain. However, in insects reared under long day photoperiod and not flown, they were shown in both median and lateral regions of the brain. In addition, the relations between neurosecretory cells, photoperiod, flight and egg development were studied and discussed.
