Bilici, KenanChoi, Sunah2022-05-112022-05-112008http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12575/79981This thesis focuses on the Ottoman pottery culture in 18th century with an approach of functional view based on the Sûrnâme-i Vehbi, which illustrates the circumcision ceremony of sons of Sultan Ahmed III in 1720, as the main visual material, trying to link to socio-cultural history.In this context, the main focus is to examine the material, color, figure and function of vessels described in miniatures of Surname-i Vehbi classified into several categories based on the theme of paintings: the banquet; the parade of guilds; circus shows; gift giving; visiting Old Serail.
