Most of the samples were obtained from the apieries located at a distance of 50m-2000m to the roads. Graphite furnace atomic absorbtion spectrometer equipped with Zeeman background corrector was applied for the determination of Pb and Cd; Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometer and a deuterium background corrector. Although Pb, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn were found in all of the samples, no Cd were found in one sample from Erzurum and in two samples from Mus. The content of Pb and Cd did not differ significantly in the mean values of July and August. There was an increase in the Cu, Fe and Zn contents in August and a decrease in the Mn content according to July. The contents of metals in honey samples were found to be in the range of 0,131±0,081 ppm, 0,006±0,007 ppm, 2,635±1,198 ppm, 9,799±5,615 ppm, 2,592±1,318 ppm, 3,705±1,708 ppm for Pb, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn, respectively. According to our datas the levels of Pb and Cd were found well belove the maximum residue limits of EU. Other metal levels were in the acceptable levels. The honey were in good quality from the point of metal contents. The results suggested that apiaries must be located far from highways, roads, traffic or other polluting sources.trAtomik absorpsiyon spektrometrebalkirlilikmetalTürkiyeAtomic absorption spectrometerTürkiye'nin doğu anadolu bölgesi'ndeki bazı illerden toplanan bal örneklerinde metal düzeylerinin belirlenmesiDetermination of the metal contents in honey samples, collected from some of the cities of east-anatolian region in turkeydoctoralThesis
