Archaic bird motif, which was mostly used in the C-A I (750 ? 600 B.C.) phase of the Cypro-Archaic Period (750 ? 480 B.C.), is one of the most important and valuable figurative representation elements of the Cypro-Archaic art. Typological and morphological affinities of this motif, shows us the mixed nature of the motif, which stands on the past knowledge of the Bronze Age pictorial art as well as Geometric and Archaic ones. One can easily say that, Cypro ? Archaic bird motif is a motif rich in nature, which has roots in the past as well as roots in the present days of its time.Cypro ? Archaic bird motif was mainly used in iconographic arrangements as: ?One Bird?, ?A Bird Used Against A Floral Motif?, ?A Bird Motif with a Bowed Down Neck?, ?Bird Motif Used Together with a Snake?, ?Bird Motif Used Together with a Fish?, ?Two Antithetic Birds?, ?Two Antithetic Birds with a Floral Motif Between?, ?Two Antithetic Birds with a Geometric Motif Between?, ?Two Birds with a Floral Motif Between?, ?Birds in a Line?, ?Birds Lined Between Floral Motifs?, ?Birds Used in a Scene? and ?Birds Used with Other Figures in a Meaningless Composition? . This rich iconographic diversity had been enriched more with a wide use of different pottery types, in combination with the most important ware groups of its time.Cypro-Archaic bird motif also shows fourteen different typological groups of bird types which are sometimes related with each other in some ways. The wide spread of the motif nearly all around the island, with a high importance mostly in the big cities like Amathus, Golgoi, Idalion, Kition, Kourion, Ledra, Marion, Salamis and Tamassos as well as lesser settlements, is a high proof of its importance in its era. Especially Amathus and Marion are easily separated from these centers by the existence of workshops, which were specialized in the decorations that used bird motif as the primary source of decoration.trKuş FigürüKıbrısKıbrıs-Arkaik Dönem seramiğinde kuş motifiThe bird figure in the Cypro-Archaic PotterymasterThesis
