With respect to this aim, this study considers the west historiography species, the different attitudes towards the cinema historiography, the conducted studies in Turkish historiography and in Turkish cinema before, during and after Nijat Özön. In the first part, the general outlook of the west historiography in 19th and 20 th centuries and the varied historiography are analyzed. After then, the varied attitudes towards cinema historiography are also analyzed. The reason why these discussions on both the west historiography and the cinema historiography take into consideration together is that the discussions on the cinema historiography are not generally independent from the historiography discussions. In the second part, Turkish historiography and Turkish cinema history is considered. By revealing the general characteristics of Turkish historiography?s comprehension, it is tried to show how this comprehension reflexes to the historiography of Turkish cinema.
