The most significant event that divides the Amawi rule into two distinct periods is the government becoming a sultanate. The intemal disputes continued to take their toll in the Islamic society after establishment of the Amawi State. During the ftrst years of Amawi State, there had been a particular social group that both chahenged the Government and tronbled the people at the ntmost, knol by the name "Hariciler". Muaviye b. Abu Sufyan, the founder of the State, concentrated on conquering the nearby territories just after foundation and for the pu^ose he se.nt large armies to eastern terrhories. Muhelleb b. Abu sufra also took active duties within these armies, heading them as the assistant Commander while leading a separate army ofelites of his own. He became popular thanks to his achievements in these armies. When he joined Abdullah b. Zubeyr, he was ranked as the Governor of Horasan, but in turn, he was assi^ed with another bloody errand, to massacre the Hariciler Group, on advancement of their threat to cover the City of Basra and her neighborhood. During the reign of Abdullah b. Zubeyr and Abdulmelik b. Mervan, he had a major role to play in final devastation .of the group Hariciler, after long chases that took some nineteen years. He was then appointed as the new Governor of Horasan, due to his successful achievements in the struggle against the group Hariciler. Muhelleb b. Abu Sufta had been an accountable man, who tried to make his best to properly ftılfill his assignments. The gradually elevating positions that he had filled throughout his lifetime are a good show ofthis. Furthermore he was a man of virtues. Humor, Valor, Patience, Loyalty and Devotion to Family are among those noticeable. Beside these virtues, interesting is his "conception ofanger", Mnhelleb b. Abu Sufra was born into a large and crowded family and wisely turned this into an advantage. He raised his sons as a soldier, which led him win battles ali by thei(' assistance. Muhelleb gave an exemplar recommendation to his sons before his final passing away. Muhelleb b. Abu Sufra had committed numerous good deeds for the sake and benefit of the Islamic Community, throughout his lifetime.
