The significance of the matter takes its source from fact that the majority of potential maritime boundaries around the world remain undelimited, such as the continental shelf dispute in the Aegean Sea. This study, examines the regime of islands and their role in maritime delimitation by analysing judicial decisions and state practices. In the first section, the definiton of islands and the maritime zones of islands are explained. Then in the second section, maritime delimitation law and in this context the functions of islands in the process of delimitation are discussed. In the third and the last section, the effects given to islands in delimitation and the factors affecting assesment are examined.trHukukDeniz alanlarının sınırlandırılmasında adaların rolüThe role of islands in maritime boundary delimitationmasterThesis
