Acer, DilekÇetinkaya, Hayriye2022-08-192022-08-192017http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12575/83298This research has been made to perepare a family participation program proposal by determining the level of knowledge about supporting the development of the children at home and school of the mothers of 4-6 age group children who are going to pre-school education institution in direction of teacher and parent opinions. The study group of this research, which used the basic interpretive qualitative research design from the qualitative research designs, constitutes of 28 mothers and 20 pre-school teachers working in the province of Kağıthane, İstanbul. The research data were obtained by individual interviews with teachers and by focus group interviews with mothers. The needs were determined in accordince with the interview results. The goals that meets the needs were determined and a family participation program proposal was formed covering an academic year. As a result of the research, it has emerged that the mothers mostly understand the family participation statement as conducting a series of activities with their children, at school, at home or outside the school but teachers mostly understand the family participation statement as spending qualified time and supporting the time interrelatedly both at school and home. Half of the mothers who participated in the survey were found to have participated in family involvement activities organized by their children's school, and half of them did not participated. It has been observed that the mothers often take part in science events such as kitchen events and flower planting. It has been determined that mothers has anticipated the need for better planning of family involvement activities, not having lack of communication between school and family, being informed by the teachers and the activities being sustainable, also being planned the activities according to their interests, expectations and abilities by the teachers, the also including extra-class activities in the program, including various activities such as artistic and cultural activities, leaving enough time for families and children, organizing some educatinal meetings like seminars, informing parents in the first days of school. Five subject titles were identified in the direction of research data and the achievement indicators for these subject titles were established.
