Dirican, BaharGörür, Salih2022-08-102022-08-102012http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12575/83037In this thesis, treatment plans of 9 patients with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) diagnosis were done with Three Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy (3DCRT) and Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) techniques using cross-sectional images of pre-treatment Computed Tomography (CT) and the data obtained were compared.4-field box technique (0 °, 90 °, 180 °, 270 °) or 4 different field gantry angles in 3DCRT technique and "inverse", "step and shoot" technique, 5 fields, 3 segments in IMRT technique were used. Dose constraints is determined as of 60 Gy for brain stem, 56 Gy for optic chiasm , 55 Gy for the optic nerves, 35 Gy for the eyes, 7 Gy for lenses. The prescribed dose was total dose of 60 Gy to planning target volume for both treatment techniques using 2 Gy per daily fraction. When compared with the 3DCRT, in IMRT plans, maximum dose value of target volume was decreased by 0,9%, mean dose value of target volume was increased by 0,1%. IMRT plans provided 1% more homogeneous dose distribution and critical organ doses decreased 5,6% for brain stem, 10,7% for optic chiasm, 26,8% for right optic nerve, 26,6% for left optic nerve, 32,6% for right eye, 39,8% for left eye, 7,8% for right lens, 33,8% for left lens, compared with 3DCRT plans. It was concluded that, in treatment of GBM tumors, IMRT technique is more appropriate than 3BCRT, with minimum critical organ doses.trGlioblastoma multiformebeyin tümörüGlioblastoma multiforme (GBM) beyin tümörü tedavisinde üç boyutlu konformal radyoterapi ve yoğunluk ayarlı radyoterapi tekniklerinin karşılaştırılmasıComparison of three dimensional conformal radiotherapy and intensity modulated radiotherapy techniques in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) brain tumorsmasterThesis
