Correlational survey model is used in the research. To create the study group of the research, the schools in Konya/Çeltik were checked over and the children from broken homes was identified. As 50 middle school students whose parents divorced were determined for the research, the students whose parents non-divorced were incorporated into the research at the same number. In this way, the study group of the research consists of 100 students. In the research, the data was collected with 'Personal Information Form' to gather the information about the students, 'Basic Needs Inventory' to identify the psychological needs and 'Optimism Inventory' to identify the levels of optimism. The collected data was evaluated with t-test when they show normal distribution and with Mann Whitney-U Test when there was no normal distribution. It was figured out that there was a big difference at the levels of belonging, power, fun basic needs between the children who lived with their parents and the children whose parents had divorced. Moreover, it was identified that there was a considerable difference at the levels of optimisms when the data collected from optimism scale was analyzed. It was encountered that there were differences in favour of the children who lived with their parents at all the identified differences.
