As a first step; existing literature wasexamined to determine the current situation as well as, the regulations and laws onprimary and secondary school education in Turkey. Afterwards, questionnaires wereadministered to collect the opinions and the expectations of the graduating studentsof the various primary schools.Interviews were made with 22 girls and 25 boys (a total of 47 students) whoattended Sirkeli Dumlupınar Primary School. These students live in villages whichshow general characteristics of villages Çubuk and are bussed to school .When thefirst interviews were applied these children were in the last year of primary schooland it was uncertain whether they would go on to secondary school or not. The groupof interviews were made in different times with the students after they graduatedfrom primary school to designate whether they attended secondary school. Inaddition to this, the reasons of continuing or not continuing their education weredetermined by comparison of students? sex. Furthermore, the secondary educationinstitutions where students attended were determined and studied by comparing thetendency according to academic, vocational and technical education. Interviews werealso made with the parents of the same students. In the interviews, it was tried todetermine whether the parents show gender discrimination or not in their children?seducation. Interviews were also made with teachers and administrators in theschools where the children graduated from. In the findings of the study, it isindicated that gender discrimination is observed and the reasons for not attendingsecondary school education differs according to the sex of the children . For bothgirls and boys; transportation problem is the most important reason for not attendingsecondary school and especially girls are affected negatively with this problem.
