Yazarın Türkçe'ye çevrilmiş tüm kitapları tarama modelinde incelenmiş olup yoğunlukla tercih edilen etik değerlere alt başlıklar halinde yer verilmiştir. Kitaplarda yer alan etik değerler, edebi bir eserin estetik bütünlüğünü tamamlayabilecek niteliktedir. Söz konusu etik değerler, Saramago eserlerinin felsefe ile ilişkisini örneklendirecektir. Kurmaca eserlerin, ait olduğu kültürün dil ve anlatım olanakları açısından anlaşılabilmesi amacıyla yabancı alanyazındaki kaynaklara başvurulacaktır. Roman ve öyküleri; tema, edebi söylem ve yazarın düşünce yazılarında yer verdiği yorumlar aracılıyla tanıtılacaktır. Felsefe ve edebiyat ilişkisi, etik ve estetik değerlerin bütünlüğü sağlayan eserlerin yapısı ilerleyen başlıklarda tartışılacaktır. José Saramago, gündelik hayatında ve eserlerinde ayrılmaz bir şekilde "sorumluluk etiğine" önem vermekle birlikte insanın, dünyanın iyi yönde dönüşümünün ancak etik anlamda sorumluluk bilincinin geliştirilmesi ile mümkün olacağını söyleyerek bu araştırmanın önemini gösterir. Düşünce ve dilin edebiyatla yakın bağını gösteren eserler; sanatın ve felsefenin güçlenmesine, dönüşmesine ve aslında insan hayatının değişmesine ve güzelleşmesine imkân sağlarken felsefe-edebiyat ilişkisinin önemini ortaya koymaktadır. The purpose of this research is the determination and examination of ethical values in José Saramago's works in the context of philosophy-literature relationship. All of the author's books translated into Turkish language were studied with the survey model, and mostly preferred ethical values were included in sub-titles. The ethical values in the books are capable of completing the aesthetic integrity of a literary work. These ethical values will exemplify the relationship of José Saramago's works with philosophical problems. In order to understand the fictional works in terms of language and expression possibilities of the culture to which they belong, the sources in the foreign literature will be consulted. His novels and short stories will be introduced through the theme, literary discourse and the author's comments in his writings. The relationship between philosophy and literature and the structure of works that provide the integrity of ethical and aesthetic values will be discussed in the following titles. While José Saramago attaches importance to the "ethics of responsibility" in his daily life and works, he also says that that the transformation of the world in a good way can only be possible with the development of an ethical sense of responsibility. His attitude can show the importance of this research.
