Bu kapsamda akademik bilgi üretim sürecinin; koşulları, dönüşümü, mevcut durumu ve idealinin nasıl tanımlandığı, açıklandığı ile akademik kapitalizm ve akademik ethos tartışmasıyla ne ölçüde ve hangi noktalarda ilişkilendirildiği sorularına yanıt aranmıştır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi tercih edilerek; saha araştırması kapsamında farklı üniversite ve sosyal bilim alanlarından sekiz bölümde; çeşitli unvan, eğitim, aşama, görev süresi ile proje, teşvik ve sektör deneyimine sahip akademisyenlerle yarı-yapılandırılmış mülakatlar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular, görüşme yapılan akademisyenlerin genel-demografik özellikleri, akademik kapitalizm tartışmasına ilişkin görüş ve deneyimleri ile akademik ethos bağlamındaki fikir ve pratikleri olmak üzere üç temel başlık altında tematik olarak gruplandırılan açıklamalar çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. This thesis aimed to evaluate the transformation of the academic knowledge production process in universities since the 1980s in Turkey, and the reflection of these transformations on the knowledge production processes of academicians in the field of social sciences, based on the opinions and experiences of the academicians and within the framework of the "academic capitalism" theory and "academic ethos" debate. In this context, answers were sought for the questions of how the conditions, transformation, current state, and ideal of the academic knowledge production process are defined and explained, and to what extent and at what points these definitions are associated with the discussion of academic capitalism and academic ethos. In the field research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with academicians with various titles, education, stage, tenure, project, incentive, and sector experience in eight departments from different universities and social science fields.
