Malatya ili kapsamında peyzaj koridoru kavramının irdelenmesi

Abstract

As linear landscape features; in 1897 ?Emerald Necklace? concept which connects urban parks and gardens with linear green corridors was created by Frederick Law Olmsted, and in 1960?s ?Environmental Corridors? concept which connects the natural and cultural resources with rivers and drainage lines was created by Phillip Lewis. From these times to present the corridors in landscape have been developed as a respond to the ecological, cultural and recreational requirements from the view point of landscape architecture. In landscape planning and design efforts, corridors take place as an important spatial units both to assess natural and cultural resources in a sustainable way, and also to meet recreational needs of people in industrialization process.In this study, the concept of corridor, in addition to their functions which have been assessed up to now with providing connectivity and linear spaces, was also investigated considering the ecological processes which form a landscape. As a result, landscape corridors were defined, which provides sustainability of natural and cultural resources indicating particular landscape character of the study area in one hand, and which present recreational opportunities in accordance with user demands on the other hand.
