Abstract
Gender becomes decisive on status and identity of men and women in a society by looming out of the difference between sexes. These identies which constantly postpone power discourse?s unity for ensuring its legitimacy move in process of construction. This move can be distinctly observed in the restructuring societies.Such as Tanzimat (the political reforms made in the Ottoman Empire in 1839) and Early Republican periods of Turkish History are time courses which a nation is being tried to restructured all over again. Constructuring in every phase of society means replacing of men and women which forms that society. Art and especially theatre have roles as a medium in redefining process of gender roles. Men and women character and figures in theatre texts can be seen that they were replaced by the nationalist and modernist ideologies.
