Abstract
Most concrete form of inequalities emerging along with the urbanization process in urban life and urban area has been the differentiation in urban locations. Different groups apart from each other according to their socio-economic, cultural and class specifications have established their habitat area at different fields in cities. This process has lead to competitiveness upon urban area also. In the process of urban area and sharing the urban sources, power relations and relation networks have played dominant roles. In the forming process of the urban area by upper classes that have economic and policy power, urban sources and investments have been condensate at the regions where top level residences endure. The competitive means of the lower society classes upon the urban area has been their relation networks. The fractions that use these relation networks as political pressure tool on state and local authorities have fought for their rights. At the same time, the residence places in a hierarchic manner at the urban areas have determined the resident hierarchy of the classes in urban life. The shantytowns that established at the oldest, old-fashioned and bad conditioned part of the city have been transformed to the breakdown regions that people live who are depreciated, have no right on system and their own life places and out of the relation networks.Via the transformation of these shantytowns, major differences have been aroused between actual shantytowns and the classic shantytowns emerged at the beginning of 1950?s.The shantytowns have been differentiated themselves and have not been seen as homogenous poor settlements.
