Abstract
In judo tournaments contestants make multiple matches in one day and rest time interval length between consecutive matches has been modified by International Judo Federation (IJF) with rule changes from time to time. The aim of this study was to determine if IJF's 10 minute rest time interval between consecutive judo matches was enough for recovery or not. 12 adult male subjects of this study has been selected from volunteered judokas of Ankara who were between 60 kg and 90 kg of weight categories (N=12; Age= 19,17±1,4 years; height= 175,92±7,27 cm; body weight= 73,21±9,63 kg). Subjects who have 8,75±3,11 years of training experience, trains judo, endurance and strength training three times for each in a week. All measurements were completed in three days. In the first two days subjects performed various tests and measurements applied on them to determine their physical and physiological profiles. In the last day subjects performed the main section of our study, SJFT (Special Judo Fitness Test), a specific test developed for judokas. Shortly after the SJFT performance the capillary blood from finger tips was taken for lactate determination (LA) and heart beat/ minute (KAH) was measured before test, 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 60 minutes after SJFT. In order to measurements, the results for KAH were; 180,25±8,20 beats/minute, 105,08±7,87 beats/minute 102,92±7,69 beats/minute, 101,50±8,60 beats/minute, 97,67±9,35 beats/minute, 90,58±7,87 beats/minute, ve 79,58±5,26 beats/minute; the results for LA were; 10,00±1,25 mmol/L, 9,41±1,20 mmol/L, 8,34±0,98 mmol/L, 7,98±1,03 mmol/L, 7,11±1,39 mmol/L, 5,11±1,49 mmol/L, 2,87±0,91 mmol/L. The results of the study were analysed with ANOVA test. The subjects reached 10,00±1,25 mmol/L for LA and 180,25±8,20 beat / minute for KAH in this study. LA and KAH levels were measured before and after SJFT for 8 times. In conclusion, subjects came down to 120-130 beat / minute level that is accepted for efficient recovery in 5 minutes, however they needed 60 minutes to eliminate LA to 2,5-3 mmol/L levels that are considered as a warm-up value.
