Abstract
This research was carried out in the experimental fields of the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agricul ture, Universty of Ankara in the years of 1987 - 1988. Relationships of morphine ratio in capsule t seed and morp hine yields with studied phenological and morphological characters were determined in obtained 171 poppy lines. Generaly, phenological characters were given negative results in the relationship of yields with phe nological and morphological characters which they have practical value and easy determination. This result was given an advantage of selection possibility in regard to morphological characters at the end of plant development periods. Yields were determined as the base of per plant because of equal number plants in each plot. RelationshipsVI of seed, morphine yields and morphine ratio with taken characters were determined bilateral and among themsel ves while qualitative characters like anthocyanin pig mentation, mistiness, spininess which can't be expressed in figures were tested differences of inter-group means by grouping of lines. Effects of selected 5 phenogical and 13 morphological characters on the yields were found out direct effects of each character (Path coeffi cient) and through effects of the other characters, regression analysis was applied as the other method to select the variables for setting linear and multiple reg ression models in obtained yields. According to the results, yellow seed coloured, thick stem, many capsules and high number of stigmatik rays would be considered in selection of seed yield per plant in poppy. Mistless, white or yellow seed, tall plant high number of stigmatic rays, plants with high index would be regarded to select morphine content in capsule integument, in conclusion, it was revealed that mistless, yellow seeded, thick stem, high number of stigmatic raya and capsule. with thick integument would be considered to increase the morphine yield per plant.
