Prof. Dr. Bülent GülçubukIn this research it was aimed at examining women agricultural workers? social and economicstructure and putting forth their problems for consideration in Elbeyli District Center of Kilisprovince. In the research as a primary data the questions of a questionnaire with respect towomen were used. In the research a questionnaire was made with 60 women workersdisplaying activity in agriculture as the head of the family and/or in the position of head?swife of the family.Fundamental findings obtained in the research can be summarized as in the following way. 60% of women agricultural workers are below the age of forty or belong to a smaller age group.26,7 % of them are illiterate, 58,4 % of them got married below the age of 21 and 75 % ofthem had arranged marriages by their parents. 55 % of women are not covered by socialsecurity and 20 % of them own green cards. 21,7 % of them say that they have no free time.35 % of women stated that the wages they received were inadequate in comparison with theworking conditions. 85 % of women do not wish their kids to work in agricultural activities.56.8 % of decisions are made by women?s husbands within the family. Women?s education,their relations with the environment, their wage structure, working and living conditionsappear as major problems. Almost all of them stated that they would not have worked inagricultural activities if they had had the chance.
