Asst Prof. Dr. Ekrem KURUM 2000,Pages:110 Jury: Asst Prof. Dr. Ekrem KURUM Prof. Dr. Halim PERÇİN AssocProf. DnZuhal ULUSOY In this study, existing land use decisions and open-green space data for Kırıkkale, an important military and strategical industry cities of Middle Kızılırmak Basin, are analysed. Kırıkkale has urbanized rapidly and spontaneously, and still, there is a high potential for development; particularly taking into consideration the large investments like Organized Industrial Estate, Middle Anatolian Petrolleum Refinery, Free Zone Project, Green Valley Recreation and Tourism Project and Kırıkkale University. In this context, planning decisions concerning open-green space requirements, the protection, preservation and development of natural 111environment, the improvement of urban ecological balance and the provisions of a cohorent circulation system have great importance. It is pot forward in this study that, in order to reach a healthy, sustainable and livable city, a new urban open-green space system must be developed, considering the existing open-green space data, socio-economic and cultural structure and the spatial characteristics of the city.
