Abstract
In this study, the aptitude of the political parties having groups in TBMM prior to the referendum for contitutional amendment on 12 September 2010 and the personalization of their politics and consequently their Americanization are endeavoured.From the 1950s onwards with the application of mass media, public opinion polls and commercial marketing techniques first in USA then in Europe and in Turkey, the convention observed in the election campaigns is qualified as Americanization. Thus, the theoritical frame work of this study is composed of the Americanization of the political campaigns and the basic presumption of this thesis is that since the beginning of 1950, both in the world and in Turkey parallel to economic, political and social changes, political campaigns have turned into Americanization.In the first section, in which are the theoritical framework, the history of communication, political communication, political marketing, election campaigns and their new aims in the politics are explicated. In the section, in which the Americanization factors such as the technicalization, the mediatization, the scientification and particularly personalization of the politics are discused with the concept of Americanization, the outlook of the concept in application in USA and Turkey is illustrated.In the second part of the study called ` Findings and Evaluations?, the political campaigns of the parties such as AKP, CHP and MHP having groups in TBMM prior to the referendum for contitutional amendment on 12 September 2010 are examined via the leader speeches of meetings. In the light of the gathered data, the assumption of the survey is tested.Key Words: political communication, Americanization, personalization of politics, political campaign, referendum
