Item M.Ö. II. bin yılda Orta Anadolu iğneleri(Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2000) İrfan, Handan Tüzemen; Emre, Kutlu; ArkeolojiThe thesis entitled The Pins of Central Anatolia in the Second Millenium B.C. isa study of all the pins and needles that were found in Central Anatolia and determined to date from the second millenium B.C. As known, pins are objects consisting of two parts- the shaft and the head, and generally considered as accessories. The aim of this study is to describe the typological and technical features of these objects, which were not examined altogether as a distinct category until now. The study covers 1817 pins and needles of Central Anatolia that were published in sources. Having examined them we found that there are variations in either the head or in the shaft. These variations of the head and the shaft constitute the main focus of the study. Accordingly, the pins have been classified into two main types of shafts and fifteen main types of heads. In addition, needles are classified as a separete group. As to their classification on basis of periods, the pins have been examined under three main periods: the Assyrian Trading Colonies Period, the Old Hittite Kingdom Period and the Hittite Empire Period. During these periods, the production of metals on one hand, and the growth of inter-regional relations on the other, have caused some innovations and fashion waves which were reflected on the pins. Consequently, some new samples of pins and needles bearing features different than those of Anatolia are encountered, alongside with those peculiar to Anatolia. Some of these pins and needles were used in Kültepe, which was a main center of trade, and their usage was often limited to the foreign tradesmen. They disappered altogether at the end of the period. These objects, which were cited in rather general terms in previous publications, are examined in this thesis for the first time in a comprehensive and detailed manner.Item Orta Karadeniz bölgesinde Eski Tunç Çağı seramik sanatı(Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2001) İpek, Önder; Emre, Kutlu; ArkeolojiIn this thesis, which is named as "The Art of Ceramics of the Central Black Sea Region in the Early Bronze Age" the pottery is studied as a whole and the unpublished pottery is investigated for the first time here. As mentioned in the "Introduction", the borders of the Central Black Sea Region do not extend over with the topographical borders of the geographical region. This region comprise the area between the lower section of the Kızılırmak and Yeşilırmak Rivers. The Early Bronze Age, of whose the pottery is studied in this thesis, roughly consists of a time span of one millennium. It is usually accepted that this long period has three phases as I, n, III. These phases were divided as, Chalcolithic, Copper Age and Early Bronze Age. In the second section of the thesis, the find places of the pottery introduced based upon the excavations and surface surveys and therefore the distribution area of this pottery was tried to be established. In the section III, the typology of this pottery and their technical features are evaluted in detail, with the established paralellisin, the definition of the similarities and the differantiations of the region is explained. As a result of this study, the local features of the Central Black Sea Region is fixed. In the section IV, named "Conclusion", it is emphasised that, during the Early Bronze Age, the region was illiterate, i.e. living the protohistoric age and that this period constitutes the origin of the splendid Hatti Civilization. It is also stressed that this impressive civilization, especially in the third phase, with its rich metal ores, reached to a very high level of development, and with this resemblance, the development and its features in the art of ceramics can be traced.
