Avrupa Birliği'nin uluslararası arabuluculuk rolü: Kosova ve Gürcistan örnekleri
Abstract
As an international organization established after World War II and aiming to protect the peaceful order, the European Union has begun to contribute to conflict resolutions by assuming an international mediator role in the 1990s following the implementation of a common foreign policy and has become quite an active international mediator today. Still, the international mediation efforts of the European Union are not analyzed in-depth in the literature. In this regard, the main goals of this thesis are to contribute to the quite limited research in this field by making a deeper analysis on the European Union's international mediation activities, which are among the top priorities of its common foreign policy, and assessing the features of the role it assumes. Accordingly, the thesis studies how the European Union assumes international mediator roles, which strategies it adopts, and which policies and mechanisms it benefits from. Eventually, it will be analyzed whether the European Union has been able to become an effective and successful international mediator and how it aims to position itself in this field in the period ahead. Key Words: European Union, conflict resolution, international mediation
